Silverglades remains closed for now
The coronavirus rules have been relaxed, allowing travel for exercise, and meet-ups of up to 6 people (if 2m socially distanced) in open spaces. This does not mean, however, that we can reopen the grounds at Silverglades.
The committee are discussing this matter and looking to see if and when it may be possible to reopen, probably to members only (no visitors).
In the next few days we will make a decision to either stay closed or reopen with restrictions in place. Until then, the site must remain out of bounds.

Although there have been some changes to the lockdown rules, our site “Sliverglades” remains closed to all members and visitors
On 7 May 2020 the coronavirus lockdown was formally extended by another 3 weeks, to 28 May 2020. Silverglades will therefore remain closed.
Boris Johnson is expected to announce some relaxation to the rules on 10 May, however any changes from Monday 11 May will be “modest, small, incremental and very carefully monitored”
Temporary closure of Silverglades
The coronavirus advice is clear: stay at home as much as possible. For this reason, we have closed Silverglades with immediate effect. This closure will initially be for three weeks from 23/03/20 to 12/04/20 at which point the Government will look at the stay-at-home rules again and relax them if the evidence shows this is possible.
The Chester, Worsley, Spectrum and Manchester Males’ swims are now cancelled until further notice, due to coronavirus related restrictions
RSPB cafe and visitor centre
Following the UK Government’s advice, RSPB have taken the difficult decision to temporarily close the visitor centre, café and shop at Leighton Moss. This means there are no toilet facilities either.
Any visitors to MBNC Silverglades who make use of the cafe, toilets and shop, need to take this into account. You will have to prepare your own breakfasts from now on!
Every cloud has a silver lining though. RSPB are waiving the non-member entrance fee to the reserve so people can enjoy the site at no cost. There is of course a donations cairn by the visitor centre where people are welcome to contribute to their ongoing work.
Due to coronavirus, all BN events and BN swims are under review. Check with orgainsers of swims, or BN, before attending!
MBNC events at Silverglades are currently unaffected
